SELF LOADING REEL HANDLER

The flowline reel handler is a versatile self loading reeling machine that can lift and rotate up to 250 Te 9.2m diameter reels and move reels from quayside to storage locations.
The design incorporates a number of unique features that allow reel handling in locations where heavy cranage is expensive to mobilise, as all assembly and loading equipment is incorporated in the mob package. No external crane support is required. When dismantled the reel handler loads on 2 x 40' semi trailers complete with site office, tracks, power pack, hydraulic jacks and tools. Assembly time is approximately 6 hours depending on configuration and site conditions, however recent modifications allow the machine to be driven around a reel in a "U" shape. This radically reduces turn around time for multiple reel operations.
The machine can be assembled in 3 modes. You only pay for the mode you
require.
1. Self
Loading Under Roller
Framework is built around the reel and lifts reel off crades. Specifications
and rates available on request.
Standard configuration caters for transportation cradles used with Well Stream 26' and 28' reels, Coflexip 78.44.55 & 8.6m reels on 7m cradles and NKT 9.2m reels on 6m cradles. Machine versatility makes a range of configurations available to suit virtually any reel. Adjustable wheel pressure for true 4 wheel drive, optimising available drive friction and line pull.
2. Straddle Carrier
The addition of 2 heavy caterpillar track assemblies
either side of the reel allows the self loading under roller frame to
be lifted to permit transport about the quay and adjacent hard standing.
The crawler tracks have low ground pressure and transit on steel plates
to avoid damage to concrete surfaces and allow skid steering. Storage
area requires only a well-compacted gravel surface, suitable for laden
trucks.
The controllability, wide stable foot print and minimal lift height sets new standards for safety and risk reduction in quayside transportation of heavy reels
3. Crane Loaded Under Roller
A standard configuration 4-wheel-drive under roller, fully adjustable for all common reel sizes.
Power Pack
A diesel driven 50kw unit is suitable for most applications, however larger units for faster transit speeds can be provided along with zoned, electric or ultra quiet units on request.
Offshore Use
The under roller wheel carriages and grillage can be used offshore in certain applications where environmental and vessel conditions permit.
Optional double-flanged wheels and additional hold down equipment increase security and line pull. In certain applications the loaded machine could be driven directly onto a barge.
